“My soul is a landscape” wants to address the difficulties we experience to preserve our authentic “self” in a world full of experiences and influences. There are so many things that are shaping us as individuals: the historical context we live in, the genes we inherit, the geographical place we're born in, the ethnic, cultural & religious background, our family's, subcultures, education, colour, gender..... but at the end of the day we are all people - body and soul.
To express the temporality of the body, I'm using a dead tree (organic material) and to express the sensitivity and reflectiveness, the hardness and the fragility of the soul I'm using “glass”.
"My soul is a landscape" is about the moments we question our own authenticity and wonder about our essence. Can we stand our ground as an individual in the face of the passing of time and the blows that life deals us?!

Met het werk 'Golden (f)oil / Gouden (f)olie' kaarten kunstenaars Tanya Atanasova en Thomas van Walle met een licht humoristische inslag subtiel de huidige milieuproblematiek en economie aan.
Wat indien olievlekken plots gouden vlekken worden? Wat is de waarde van een bepaald materiaal binnen een bepaalde context? Hoe zou de ruimte wijzigen indien vervuiling gunstig en esthetisch aantrekkelijk zou worden?
Het werk bestaat uit een op het water drijvende goudkleurige vlakke constructie opgebouwd uit isolatiedekens. De vorm roept het beeld van een olievlek op.
De gouden olievlek is een dubbelzinnig beeld, de grondstof voor heel wat menselijke economische activiteit en creativiteit, is tegelijkertijd vervuilend en destructief.
Het gebruik van goud/zilveren isolatiedekens als materiaal refereert aan de beelden van gestrande bootvluchtelingen die door reddingswerkers worden opgevangen. Op die manier kan de olievlek ook gezien worden als een vlot waarmee de mensheid al dan niet de overkant bereikt.
Het kunstwerk vertrekt vanuit de vorm van een toegewezen segment van het meer in het Park van Woluwé. De reflectie van het licht op de gouden folie geeft een aangenaam visueel resultaat.
